HAVING A COW OVER A COPPER PIG & SOME OTHER COPPER THINGS!

moss - Bank in the form of a Pig - $250 no longer available (Limited edition copper version of the iconic Harry Allen designed piggy bank. Holds $10,000 in $1 bills)(above)

I've told you the story of my silver pig way back when. I love my Harry Allen Bank in the Form of a Pig...a picture I took of a pig has been my temporary logo for years (question: how long can something exist and still be temporary? huh? hmmm?). My pig sits in my office...glistening and staring at me everyday. I LOVE MY PIG!

So when I saw that there was a copper version of my pig available...I flipped out (in a good way). I was titillated! Enthused! Thrilled! Exhilarated!

I called best of friend AM and said out of breath, "You won't believe it. Guess what? They've made the pig you and I both have in COPPER. I have to have it. Love it." AM merely replied, "I hate copper." Hmmm......hmmmm.....my eyes went half mast.

Anyhoooooo...above is the pig I have been coveting for months. I saw it online at moss. I kept meaning to buy it for months but put it off (procrastinating of course). About two weeks ago, I decided..."it's time to order my copper pig! Zippity do dah...yay yay yay!". I went online and found it on the website and tried to order it and nothing happened. In fact it said "This item is no longer available". WHAAAAAAAAAAAAAAATTTTTT??? My head began spinning...I started to see colors...my eyes were bugged....WHAAAAAAATTTTTTTT??? NO COPPER PIGS???????? I felt like I was being sucked into an alternate universe.

I decided to take action...the website had to be wrong...there had to be more copper pigs...there just had to be!!!!!!!! So I called the moss store in Soho in New York and said to the lady in a faux cheerful but stressed voice,"I'd like to order the copper pig. You know the Harry Allen one. I'd like it rush delivered. Thank you so much." In a nonplussed voice and quite blase, the lady said, "We just sold the last pig about a week ago. No more copper pigs. There were only 300 of them. Sorry. We have silver or gold if you want." Choked up, shocked and tweaked, I manage to eek out, "I want a copper pig. I saw it on your website." Her response, "That's still up there? I will have them take it down immediately. Thanks for letting me know." I hung up the phone.

Needless to say...after the post traumatic stress syndrome subsided, I have accepeted that I am without copper pig. So now, I am trying to make the best of it by talking about copper things (logical...right?)! I had never really thought of copper before the pig but now that I am copper pigless...I did notice some cute copper items here and there in the furniture, lighting, bath, kitchen and decor world! Here they are!

Anthropologie -Redsmith Dining Chair - $198 (Burnished copper finish iron bistro style dining or side chair.)(above)

Calypso Home - Sophie Nova Beignet Leather Pouf in Copper - $2920
- 212-925-6200 (Copper leather Moroccan style ottoman or footstool. 28"D x 12"H)(above)

moss - Copper Shade Suspension Light - $495 (Designed by Tom Dixon, 2005. {Polycarbonate dome lined with copper)(above)

Waterworks - Clothilde Freestanding Oval Bathtub - $40,705 (Clothilde pedigree is rooted in the high sloping French cooper tubs of the 19th century but made on a larger scale for today's bathrooms and baths)(above)

In case you wondered, I am fine. I guess. (Is this pathetic? The fact that there are important things going on in the world and I am squealing and snorting about a pig? (pun intended) I know it is quite maudlin...but welcome to my world...hee hee)

Which of these copper decor finds do you like the best?

I think I am leaning towards the $40,000 bathtub! :-)

A MARVELOUS MOSAIC FLOOR IN AN ITALIAN BATHROOM!

Photo via Castello di Reschio

Another bathroom...hmmm.... (should have called this BATH WEEK...should have....)

Love this bath in a centuries old Italian farmhouse. It is rustic, classic and contemporary all at the same time. The mosaic tile floor with its flowing and curvilinear design is just fab. Apparently this bath is part of a major renovation of an Italian family's country estate by the owner who is an architect and a count!

I will digress...I would love to be in Italy right now. Oh well. I am not...so off to work!

DESIGN IDEA: A SLAB OF MARBLE MAKES A SPLASH IN A POSH CITY BATH!

White Carrara marble slab used to cover wall and as backsplash in a city apartment bathroom sink area. (above)

Why tile up a wall in a bathroom when you could just use one huge piece of marble?

I like this look. Also, loving the marble sink basins in this double sink area and the half wall of marble. Without seeing the picture, some might think I am talking about a marble palace of sorts...but as you see here, this is just the right amount of stone. I think the grey veins in the marble add visual interest without being too busy. Eliminates the visual clutter of tile or grout lines too. The mosaic floor helps balance things out. Love all of the polished nickel metal fitting and faucets. Simple and elegant.

What do you think of this bath? Please weigh in if you have or haven't before. I LOVE hearing from readers!

SEE THIS HOUSE: A CAMERA READY COUNTRY HOME BY SIXX DESIGN!

Photos courtesy of Sixx Design

White house yellow trim! The portico of a shingled home in Great Barrington, Massachusetts features striped yellow and white drapery panels that match the exterior trim and color scheme and welcome guests to the home's main entrance and front door . (above)

Okay. I am admitting it. I have nearly succumbed. I do not have the time to get sucked into a t.v. series but I think I might be getting hooked (might be...have not committed as I do a have a phobia of committing but I might be). I will also admit that the only other show on television that I have been totally "hooked" into in the past is The Bachelor (I make these admissions only because my full name is not associated with this blog yet...uh huh...I am aware that my credibility in the real world would be completely lost with this Bachelor admission and is probably totally lost in the blog world as well). While most of my friends are the "If I have to admit to watching t.v., I only watch the really hip and cool television shows like Mad Men, True Blood, Modern Family and the like"-types (these are also the friends who call movies "films" and who mention the New York Times or New Yorker at least four times in any given conversation), because I admit to watching The Bachelor it makes me the "I like reality shows especially the cheesy ones where they give out roses and have fantasy suites or ones that involve a guy named Ray J or women who are housewives"-type.

Anyhoooooooooooooooooo...this is all to say, now I have started watching 9 by Design on Bravo - the show chronicling the lives of New York City based house flippers extraordinaire Robert and Cortney Novogratz of Sixx Design and their 7 children (yes 7). I would think this show would appeal to my t.v. snob friends as well as those who admit to watching The Bachelor like me. The Novogratz couple takes on huge and expensive remodeling, building, interior design and decorating projects...usually homes they build to live in themselves and then sell for goooogobs of money.

Their publicist Megan was kind enough to send me photos (I say "kind enough" with a wink as I assume besides being kind sending photos is perhaps the publicist's job as well) of a country (or suburban) home that Rob and Cort (abbreviating their names as I am oh so familiar with them now that I have seen all of 1.5 episodes of their show) remodeled in Great Barrington, MA.

I like this house. It is bright light and cheery and filled with whimsical elements and fun design choices. Don't know if I could live here but I certainly would want to visit and hang out for a long while! I LOVE the white washed wood floors the most I think (again fear of committment hence the "I think").

I'll stop blabbering...now...for only an instant though...so you can take a look at this fun family friendly home!

The formal living room (I assume) features a Persian rug, white lacquer fauteuils in front of a fireplace with a large venetian glass mirror hanging above it. (above)

For more casual dining, a large white oval dining table and colorful chairs provide ample seating right near the home's open kitchen. (above)

An eclectic mix of modern furniture (including a bow tie shaped black sofa), a cow hide rug and a contemporary freestanding fireplace make for a visually interesting family room or den. (above and below)

A lucite Mademoiselle Kartell chair with Missoni fabric acts as stylish seating for a desk that is perfectly placed in front of a gorgeous picture window. (above)

The stairwell is lined with an impressive collection of black and white photos and prints meticulously arranged to give the feel of casual order or planned disorder. (above)

Two sides of a blue bedroom! (above)

Bright orange walls pack a powerful design punch in a bedroom. (above)

Before - The exterior of the house was well worn prior the remodel. (above)

After - The exterior of the house still feels rustic but gets a great polished face lift with the white paint and touches of yellow on the shutters. The peace sign on the left of the house is an attempt to give it a casuaul bohemian feel I assume (again). (above)

So, what do you think of this home?

Hope you have nice Monday.

P.S. Oh, one last thing, I also like the fact that Rob and Cort have a son named Wolfie too by the way (short for Wolfgang)...think I might name my first child Luddie, Sebbie or Johannie (for those who know classical music...these would be short for Ludwig (Beethoven), Sebastian or Johannes (for Bach)).

P.P.S. I lied...one more last thing...best of friend AM is obsessed with Cort...AM is amazed that Cort still looks good after having 7 kids. AM is juggling two children and I think any mom who sees this woman relatively calmly handling 7 children is in awe.

Hope you have a good weekend.

CHEAP TO CHIC: HONING IN ON CONE SHAPED CHAIRS FOR INDOORS AND OUT!

Indoor or outdoor Vegetal Chair by Ronan & Erwan Bouroullac, 2008. Produced by Vitra in Germany. Dyed polyamide. Display at last year's Dwell on Design show. Price approx. $555. (above)

Last year while at the Dwell on Design show here in Los Angeles, I ran into these web like cone shaped outdoor chairs shown above. Thought they were interesting to look at and a much more stylish alternative to your everyday outdoor plastic chair. At the end of the show, Vitra was selling them at a discount because they had brought so many to display and for seating. I almost bought one or two...but didn't (my problem...always missing good deals...or buying too high). Needless to say, was regretting that I didn't buy when I saw these chairs all over the internet this year at a much more expensive price!!!

Anyhooooo...after getting over my regret, this year, I noticed a ton of chairs - both indoor and outdoor - with the same cone-like shape. Thought the round shallow funnel outline was interesting to look at (although have not tested the comfort level of any of this seating). A nice modern accent inside the home or out.

In the event this modern design appeals to you, there are a range of options...here they are in today's CHEAP TO CHIC!

Urban Outfitters - Loop Chair - $79 (An antique-style wire chair. Round design with a distressed, powder-coated finish. Twisted iron detail. Indoors or out. 26.5"w, 26.5"d, 29"h. Powder-coated iron alloy wire.)(above)

cb2 - Igloo Chair - $149 (Handwoven heavy-gauge white wire rounds out a 1950s outdoor classic. Like a tilted satellite dish on a hairpin leg base. Rust-resistant white powdercoat finish. Handwoven heavy-gauge wire.)(above)

yliving - Mr. Impossible - $440 (Philippe Starck designed chair for Kartell)(above)

hive - Eros Fixed Base Chair - $485 (Design Philippe Starck, 2001. Polycarbonate, polished aluminum. Made in Italy by Kartell. 24" w 27" d 31" h seat; 18" h. Transparent colors: crystal, yellow, orange, light yellowish green and cobalt blue. Opaque colors: glossy white, glossy black and Kartell red.)(above)

I like the wire outdoor versions of this chairs in white...I think they could look great on a modern sleek deck or next to the infinitiy pool I do not have. Mr. Impossible is pretty cute too - maybe in a different color.

Would love to know what you think about cone shaped chairs. A wonderful accent or too modern for you? If you had to pick one, which one might you want around your house?

Hope you have a great Friday!

RUG PURVEYOR MADELINE WEINRIB PAINTS A NEW LOOK WITH HER FIRST WALLPAPER DESIGN!

Madeline Weinrib - Allemande Wallpaper - $650 per set (Each set contains two rolls that are each 27"w x 180"l (10 yds total in a set). Black and white hand painted floral brocade design)(above)

She is known for her line of high end rugs, furniture, pillows and textiles...now the grand daughter of the famed ABC Carpet & Home founder Max Weinrib has her own wallpaper design. This is Madeline Weinrib's first wallpaper - it is called Allemande. It is handpainted and inspired by French brocade patterns.

Could possibly work well in a bedroom or hallway or bath or on a feature wall. A neutral brocade design of sorts. Lauren from Madeline Weinrib is sending me a photo of it once it is up in the store...can't wait to see!

What do you think of this new Madeline Weinrib wallpaper design?

DESIGN IDEA: A COLORFUL MEXICAN BLANKET COVERED CHAIR WARMS UP THE CROSBY STREET HOTEL LOBBY!

Photos in this post by Coco of Cococozy

A curved back side chair with spindle legs is upholstered with Mexican blanket like fabric. (above)

When in NY last weekend, AM took me through the Kit Kemp owned and designed Crosby Street Hotel so I could see the decor. Loved it...but really liked this chair.

In the middle of a very modern sleek white lobby filled with loads of contemporary art sits this colorful striped chair. It pops against the impressive paned wall of windows and the neutral backdrop. Upon closer inspection, I realized how genius this chair actually is. In a room filled with high, art modern and classic furniture, this chair has a twist to it that the others do not.

A traditional chair upholstered in the same fabric used to make Mexican blankets or serapes. In a way, a melding of two cultures in one chair. A Mexican blanket thrown on a sofa in this space would not at all make design sense...but as upholstery it totally works!

What a great idea! If you have or find a great piece of heavy fabric with international flair, whether it be a blanket, a throw or rug that you've found on your travels or just while shopping, consider really incorporating it into your design by upholstering a piece of furniture with it. Imagine an ottoman, or chair seat cushions or a small love seat in some fantastic fabric from afar....it could make a great design statement.

Here are some more pictures of this chair and the fantastic fanciful lobby of the Crosby Street Hotel.

The chair's decor companions are an eclectic mix of furnishins that include a reclaimed wood block that is used as a bench, two modern acrylic display coffee tables and a white French inspired sofa. (above)

A fantastic large steel sculpture of a head made of cut out letters of the alphabet by artist Jaume Plensa sits right at the front entrance of the hotel! (above)

COCOCOZY FIND: A MARVELOUSLY MODERN SOFA!

Photos in this post by Coco of Cococozy

Ligne Roset - Ruche - approx. $4900 (Designed by Inga Sempe, this small sofa is made of a velvet quilted pad and wood frame. Can be upholstered in any fabric and frame comes in darker color)(above)

Just got back from New York! Spent the last 4 days in the city having a FANTASTIC time with friends. Stayed with AM and her husband JE as usual. On Sunday, yesterday, when cruising the city for design finds with AM, JE and their cute kids...I ran into this amazing settee or petite sofa of sorts.

I dashed into Ligne Roset on Wooster Street in Soho when I saw this modern looking velvet quilted chartreuse love seat in the front of the store. Was captivated by it. As I was taking pictures, I random older man, another customer, stood in front of my camera and said "Have you sat in it yet?" I replied "Good point...let me give it a try". I sat and the man sat too. It was quite comfortable. So there I was on a beautiful spring day sitting on a small quilted sofa with a random man in a store in Soho. He and I waxed on about the fantastic design of this perfect modern love seat; he had many opinions on the color, the possible fabric choices, the lines etc. Since he had seemed to have already inquired about the sofa, I asked my fellow random man shopper, "Do you know how much this is?" Take note...this is where the story turns slightly or very strange... He said "I didn't even ask and you don't need to ask...you just need an older rich sugar daddy to buy it for you and then price won't matter." That's when my moment on my perfect modern sofa turned very weird. The random customer man then made some kind of a joke about finding sugar daddies on Craigslist and another about a younger woman older man. Yikes. Yikes. And yikes. As I was getting more and more weirded out, I looked over to AM who was within earshot of this whole conversation but clueless as she was cooing at her cute daughter who was strapped into a stroller. Wasn't quite sure what to say after all of that bizarre dialogue from the random customer guy...so as he continued pontificating about the sofa...I asked nervously and randomly, "Are you a designer?"(dumb question I know) He said, "No I'm in the criminal justice system"...then he walked out of the store. Sounds like a surreal dream perhaps...one imagined by Salvatore Dali - none of the scene making sense and all seeming a bit off. That's what went down though...that's what happened...my life...hmmmm....

Anyhooooooooo back to my lovely little sofa. Not even the strange man could taint my love for this cute couch!

Later, after the random customer guy left, I asked the salesperson about the sofa. He wouldn't give me the exact price...but said it was over $4900 as it was on the showroom floor. The Ligne Roset sales guy also said that this sofa is NEW in the store and may be the ONLY ONE in the Western hemisphere(Hmmm....surreal or real. re: Western hemisphere part). I loved the sofa even before I knew it was the latest new thing and before I knew it was a rare sample!

Here is a look at this cute sofa from a few different angles.

What do you think of this quilted cute sofa? What color might you want to see it in?

Hope you have a great Monday!

Well COCOCOZY GIVEAWAY #3 is coming to a close with the announcement of the three (3) winners who will each get one of these amazing bathrobes.

First, I want to say a huge thank you to posh bath store Waterworks for partnering with me in my third giveaway here on the blog.

I so appreciate Waterworks for offering my readers a generous opportunity to spruce up their bath time loungewear with gorgeous white cotton bathrobes. These robes are perfect. What you wear around the home is just as important as the home's decor.

To the readers...what great comments! Thank you for entering! I hope you enjoyed browsing through the tile selection on the Waterworks site as much as I have in the past. I am obsessed with tile for some reason and wanted to get you hooked too!

A wall of Waterworks' mosaic and tile samples. (above)

Now onto the COCOCOZY GIVEAWAY #3 winners...three very lucky readers and the comments they wrote.
kellyk - "i LOVE the bead and dot decorative field tile swiss dot "b". i bought my home about 3 years ago and am saving up to re-do the master bath. oh how i would love to have this tile make its' home in my bathroom! lovely. thanks for the chance at this giveaway! even though the bank account will not yet allow me to remodel, i can at least enjoy the cozy bathrobe! kellyk"

AZ - "Aside from the subway tile we have commented on in the past, I must say the ceramic Field Tile 3" hexagons are adorable. They look great on floors and walls. Reminds me of Paris. I also liked the crackly Architectonics tiles. They look distressed but glossy and new. And don't get me started on the glass tiles. The stacked, square and staggered mosaic designs would look great in a bathroom or kitchen in the blue and grey hues. So pretty!"

Katharine - "I love Optix Watercolors 2"x4" Staggered Mosaic in Raindrop Glossy. It reminds of summer storms in Oklahoma. It would make a great kitchen backsplash! Thanks! Katharine"
If your name is mentioned above, please email me at cococozy@gmail.com with your full name, address, and contact information and robe size (S, M, L) so Waterworks can send you your bathrobe!

Congrats kellyk, AZ and Katharine! Thank you again to Waterworks!

For those of you who did not win...I have another fabulous giveaway planned with another fabulous store...so stay tuned for COCOCOZY GIVEAWAY #4!

DESIGN IDEA: DESIGNING A FASHIONABLE & FRESH OPEN FLOOR PLAN WITH WHITE!

Photos courtesy of Lynn Morgan Design

When Cococozy reader Jessica wrote to me asking what to do with colors in the open floor plan of her new house, I immediately said paint everything one color and then use accessories and furniture placement to define the spaces (see pictures Jessica sent me of a spec house that is similar to her own new home's floor plan on the Cococozy Facebook page),

Jessica is toying with the idea of stripes on walls, feature walls painted different colors in different areas and a variety of other color options for her brand new home. Her goal is to create a beach chic environment in her main living space without feeling too kitschy. She needs to tie together an open space that is multipurpose - live, eat and cook all in one space.

I think Jessica is leaning towards mixing color in her new space...but just in case she changes her mind, here is an open floor plan that works with just one color on the walls - white.

The accents of light coral, baby blue and black actually add effective pops of color, help define spaces and tie the whole floorplan design together. Connecticut interior designer Lynn Morgan successfully created an open floor plan with three separate areas - living room, dining room, kitchen - and a look that is pleasing, fresh and fashionable!

Hope this helps Jessica in her quest to conquer her new home's floor plan. If I run across other open floor plans with color, I'll post those too!

COCOCOZY GIVEAWAY #3: BUBBLING WITH DELIGHT OVER BATHROBES FROM WATERWORKS!

Photos in this post courtesy Waterworks

Exterior of the Waterworks 8,000 square foot flagship store in New York City. (above)

Am soooooo excited about this giveaway!

For COCOCOZY GIVEAWAY #3, I am partnering with the prestigious bath store - Waterworks!

What's just as exciting is that in this third giveaway, there will be three winners!

For those of you who don't know, Waterworks is THE ultimate place to go for creating a luxe bath experience in your home...from gorgeous tiles (stone, ceramic, marble, mosaic, glass), to high style fittings, to gleaming fixtures, to sumptuous accessories, Waterworks is where I go to imagine my dream bathroom.

The Waterworks store here Los Angeles is on Melrose in West Hollywood. I stop in from time to time and stand right inside the front door taking it all in. Such a bizarre thing to see someone standing at the entrance of a store without moving and with mouth wide open and eyes as big as saucers; so bizarre that on my last visit, not even the sales associates knew what to do with me. With my feet planted firmly, I stood and I stared at all of the tiles, tubs, sinks, and gorgeousness for several minutes without moving, absolutely frozen, and the sales associates stared at me not really moving either...kind of a luxury bath experience time warp!

Anyhooooo....so when Waterworks' publicist Erik said this delightful bath store would partner with me on COCOCOZY GIVEAWAY #3, I was thrilled...bubbling over a bath related giveaway!

Before we get to the giveaway...please take a look at these beautiful photos from the new elegant Waterworks Showroom in New York - the flagship store at 215 E. 58th Street - that just opened in early 2010.

Now to the COCOCOZY GIVEAWAY #3...

See this plush cotton bath robe below...three winners will each receive one of these!

I picked out robes because I knew I couldn't give away an entire spa like bathroom, but at least three lucky readers could feel like they are part way to the bath of their dreams with just the right loungewear!

Waterworks - Classic Unisex Robe - $140 (White cotton robe comes in small, medium or large)

Okay, here's how you enter to win this COCOCOZY GIVEAWAY #3:
1. Go to the "Surfaces" section of Waterworks' website and identify a tile or mosaic you love.

2. Come back to this post and in the comments section, let me know what your favorite Waterworks tile is and where you would use it or why you like it.
