WINDOW SHOPPING: TWO CHAIRS AND A MIRROR!

Photos in this post by Coco of Cococozy

A pair of 1950's vintage red metal faux bamboo chairs in the window of Emmerson Troop in Los Angeles, $1600 for the pair (above)

Yesterday I almost had an accident while driving down Beverly Blvd. I saw these chairs in the window of one of the stores I had always wanted to go into called Emmerson Troop. I made one of my classic u-turns and dove right in. These red metal vintage 1950s faux bamboo chairs literally stopped me in my tracks. Had to post them asap for you to enjoy too.

While inside the store, I was trying to get creative with my photography...by catching a glimpse of the chairs in a mirror when I also saw this cool decorative mirror on colored glass mirror (make sense?).

Nice design finds I think for a Saturday afternoon drive by!

WEEKEND PHOTO: A CHIC BACHELOR PAD!

I like this black, white and yellow space. I think this NYC home could belong to a very sophisticated man (or woman but I like it for a guy for some reason). The show house apartment is part of Designer Visions: Cinema Style and is in the Setai Fifth Avenue Residences, developed by Bizzi & Partners. The theme here is Wall Street and it looks like this space would work for an investment banker type me thinks. Oh, another if someone wanted to give me this statement is coming so please bear with me...here goes...if someone wanted do give me this $7 million + apartment, move aside guys (or if cute enough move in), I would take it!

Happy weekend!

INTERN GUEST POST: FASHION DESIGNERS WHO INTERIOR DESIGN - MAGNIFICENT MOONLIGHTING!

Fashion designer Zac Posen collaborated on the interior design for a New York condominium, 16 W. 21st. A blue kitchen in one of the condos. (above)

Readers...have a special for you today...a guest post!

This is the first ever guest post on COCOCOZY. I have yet to invite anyone to guest post on the blog but decided this post could be worth.

This first guest post comes from my amazing former intern Spardha. After spending months helping me out on COCOCOZY, I've asked my one-time intern to think up her own post concept for me to consider for possible posting. She submited her idea...and I loved it...so with a little editing here we are...

To cut to the chase, I give you former COCOCOZY intern Spardha Townend with her first guest post!

****
BEGIN INTERN GUEST POST:

As my boyfriend and I start to decorate our first apartment together, we clearly have some differences in design styles. As reflected through our personal style, I lean towards neutral colours and classic lines, while he moves towards rich colours and big, bold pieces.

I always look forward to Coco’s posts about what runway looks translate in to a certain piece of furniture or the fabric & colour of a room. So when Coco approached me about writing a guest posting, I wanted to look even further in to the relationship between Fashion & Interior Design.

I remember reading sometime around April about a hotel Armani was opening in Dubai where the style of each room reflected the brand & it’s signature look. From there I discovered that beyond the runway, there has been a surge or Designers contributing to new condo developments and hotels across the globe! Here are a few of my favorites!

Thanks again to Coco for all her help & inspiration during my internship with Cococozy.com, it’s been an exciting last couple of months! I will continue to seek inspiration from your website - for decorating ideas, day dreaming, or just to catch up & see what you have been up to!

As to who will prevail in my apartment decorating project? Only time will tell, but I’m leaning towards me, of course!!!

Much Love,
Spardha

END INTERN GUEST POST
****

Thank you Spardha for a wonderful guest post and thank you for being such a spectacular intern. I wish you so much luck in all you do...you have a bright future ahead of you!

Hope you readers enjoyed this guest post as much as I did.

Happy Friday.

SEE THIS HOUSE: WHAT $70 MILLION BUYS YOU IN MALLORCA SPAIN!

Located on a hillside in Mallorca, Spain this almost 27,000 square foot house is a newly built single family home and it is for sale.

This real estate listing is called Cielo de Bonaire and it is being offered by Sotheby's International Realty for € 50,000,000 EUR (translate to $69,367,370 USD).

This modern villa boasts 8 bedrooms, 8 baths, 2 half baths, 2 fireplaces, marble heated floors, spa, hot tub, steam room, indoor pool, outdoor pool, guest house, home cinema, cellar helipad (for when you fly in on your helicoprter, tennis court, private elevator, extensive security system and of course pretty spectacular water views.

A little too stark and modern for me and some of the rooms seem disproportionately oversized...but if someone offered this to me as my second home, I would take it. I could certainly figure out a way to work on the interior design and decor to make it warm and inviting - I would just have to transform it into a Cococozy villa! Such would be the life if that was my biggest concern, "Hmmm...what will I do today...I think I'll start on transforming my stark modern villa in Mallorca into a warm cozy home...hmmm...where do I start?"

In case you have an extra $70 million and lots of change for decorating (overhauling the interior design), take a look below...it's all yours for the taking.

What do you think about this new Spanish villa in Mallorca? Take it or leave it?

Don't you wonder who will end up buying it?

Happy Friday!

CLUTTER FREE CLOSET!

Is it possible for something to give you extreme joy while at the same time inflicting a sense of extreme anxiety?

Well that is kind of a rhetorical question because I know the answer is yes. This closet, for example, makes me very joyful and extremely anxious - diametrically opposed feelings all at the same time.

I love this wall closet...organized, manageable, pretty, realistic, the ideal closet for me...open racks, concealed areas, lots of drawers, shoes well organized, clothing well hung...well designed indeed.

While I love this closet, it also gives me total anxiety. Anxiety only because this is my ideal and I am living with a not ideal closet situation right now and in general. This morning, I thought my cleaning lady was coming so I threw almost everything in my closet onto my bed to be reorganized. A heap of black clothing...with some speckles of blue, purple, maroon and white here and there, piled high on my bed. Yikes! In my closet, there are still quite a few clothes, mis-hung, not organized, with heaps of shoes on the closet floor. A mess. P.S. Just realized that my cleaning lady doesn't in fact come today...she comes Saturday (complicated scheduling...some weeks she comes Thursdays and some weeks she comes Saturdays). Oy va voy va voy.

Anyhoooo...I am leaving the pile behind...nothing I can do at this point...off to work and I'll think about it later today (the worst feeling is coming home to a total mess...and the worst feeling I will have...anyhoooo what's a girl to do? Don't answer that either...I imagine the answer my mother would give, "a girl should organize her own closet and keep things neat at all times"...boo).

Happy Thursday!

P.S. Thank you for all of your comments on the reader submission photos I posted on the official COCOCOZY FACEBOOK PAGE on Tuesday evening. Was so glad everyone like. Thank you to reader Angela Robinson for submitting!

MODERN COUNTRY - SHABBY MEETS CHIC IN A WHITE RUSTIC KITCHEN!

Classic country decor is definitely not my style...I can appreciate it but would not want to live in a completely country decorated home. That being said...there are some country-esque spaces that work for my sensibilities...this open kitchen is an example.

Not quite classic and not quite country, this kitchen exudes something rustic, down home, comforting and cozy (yes cozy even though it is stark white). From England, this all white country eat-in space is rough around the edges while being refined at the same time. This one-wall kitchen is simple, functional and rustic. The reclaimed like looking butcher block counter tops, the white washed wood floors and cabinetry, the exposed bulb lighting, the white subway tile backsplash with dark grout lines showing all work together to create a space that is beyond shabby and actually a bit chic.

Oh the only thing I might do to make this space really work is add just a few pops of color with some accents here or there...maybe some kitchen knicks and knacks in red would do the trick!

What do you think dear readers? I want your opinion on this modern country space.

Happy Wednesday!

CHEAP TO CHIC: BLACK PENDANT LIGHTS!

Photo: Roger Davies

Never thought I would like a black pendant light until I saw this photo above. In a bright enough and simple enough room a black light fixture, chandelier or pendant light can work. Way back, everyone was doing black Murano glass chandeliers...I like this look as today's take on black lights!

Here is today's CHEAP TO CHIC on some black pendant lights.

DWR - Barn Lamp - $285 (Black pendant light. Dome and canopy made of spun steel. Shiny black exterior, white inside)(above)

yLighting - Shade Light - $900 (Black aluminium with silver aluminum interior. Matte finish)(above)

hive - Boon Light - $1332 (Designed Piet Boon. Classic drum shade in black. 37.5" diameter)

Happy Tuesday!

10 REASONS I'M LOVING ALL THINGS CASAMIDY!

My good friend and award winning event planner extraordinaire Yifat Oren invited me to dinner the other night at her lovely Hollywood Hills home that she shares with her wonderful husband Jonathan Cutler (Jonny) and their cute children. Having planned some of the finest weddings and events in the world, Yifat has an incredible sense of style and I often consult with her about all that is interesting in decor and design and I love dining at her home!

So, naturally, after "savouring" a wonderful dinner prepared by Chef Cece, we sat down for an evening chat. I think the goal was to be just like normal people and have a normal conversation. Of course, that didn't happen. Yifat and I were only focused on design. Poor Jonny...he wanted to have a regular adult dialogue...where people actually talk and learn about what is going on in each other's lives or talk about issues in the larger world around them. Yifat and I were narrowly focused and only wanted to talk about our latest furniture finds, decorating and design ideas. Anyhooo...about two hours into trying to wrestle us into other conversation areas (like politics, world events, business, literature etc.), Jonny gave up and went to sleep. That left me and Yifat to start our virtual hunt for cool design finds on her computer.

All of this to say, that night Yifat introduced me to the new CASAMIDY website - a site I had not visited in over a year. She had ordered a gorgeous mirror for her hallway from the Mexico based furniture company and had become a die-hard fan of the company. That night she converted me. I have always loved CASAMIDY...had featured some of their items sold at Colcha Home in Venice Beach but I didn't know the extent to which I loved CASAMIDY until that night.

CASAMIDY is owned by the talented husband and wife team Jorge Almada and Anne-Marie Midy. Their new website, revamped earlier this year, is filled with a trove of furniture and accessories treasures. As if Yifat was giving me a tour of her own home (clearly she had spent a bit of time on the website), she deftly guided me through all of the wonderful pieces and photos on Casamidy's site...which include fabulous accessories, lighting, furniture and even some INCREDIBLE apartments and homes (some are even for rent). One glance and I was hooked!

So, in what might be one of the longest COCOCOZY posts ever, here are 10 REASONS I AM CRUSHING ON CASAMIDY:

So there you have it! The 10 reasons I'm loving all things CASAMIDY!

Thank you Yifat for reintroducing me to CASAMIDY and thank you to your sweet husband for being so patient with our design black out!

I don't know Jorge or Anne-Marie of CASAMIDY but I must say thank you to them for such a wonderful selection of total eye candy and for such enchanting designs. Brilliant.

If you want to know more about CASAMIDY...just email Jorge and Anne-Marie at casamidy@casamidy.com.

Oh, this is one post where I don't have a favorite...because I would happily scoop up all furniture and residences featured here in a minute. Anything here you are loving dear readers? Please please let me know.

Happy Monday!
