COLOR WATCH: FIRING UP A RED KITCHEN!

You know I am an advocate of all things white in home decor. I especially love a fresh white kitchen...clean, classic and timeless.

Wait...stop...but now just ran into this red kitchen and for some odd reason it really works for me.

Love the delicate blue and white ceramic mosaic tile backsplash about the stove (almost Moroccan in feel), the rich red shaker cabinets and the modern stainless steel appliances. Something old world, modern and exotic about this hunting lodge kitchen.

I would try this in my country house...the country house I do not own as of yet...the country house I would love to have...oh that is a whole other story!

Would you ever do a red kitchen? What do you think of this one?

Happy Tuesday!

Lovely kitchen! I'm a fan of all things white, too, so I am not sure I would have a red kitchen. I might incorporate some red accessories, though. But otherwise, I will just live vicariously through other nice red kitchens!

That is cool! Yeah I think I would do a red kitchen if I had the right house for it. I love the patterned tile too.

I don't think I could do it. I'd be a nervous wreck. But, those out there who totally dare to do it: Good for you!

It's all in the balance, isn't it? The right red balanced with that beautiful, cool blue tile.

Looks great probably wouldn't paint ine red but be happy if I moved into one.

I wouldn't want it for myself but I do love the way this one looks. I believe it works because of the open cabinetry. I actually used the same pic last week for a post I did on vibrant colored kitchen cabinets. Check it out :-)

I don't know if I could live with such a bold kitchen but must admit its quite pretty and even kind of grand looking. Its cool and retro but awfully bright..just afraid I would get tired of it though its a welcome departure from the white we see EVERYWHERE!

I'm living with a dark pink and light pink kitchen, with grey cabinets, and have been for the last 25 years. It was all chic and unusual when it was done, now I could kill to have a white-on-white kitchen. Too much for too long.

What tile do you think they used on the backsplash.. kinda looks like the Ann Sacs one?

oh yeah! I would definitely go for a red kitchen

Mmmm, love it!! Feels warm and happy and the tiles and countertop provide just enough relief from that beautiful Chinese red. And for any worrywarts out there, remember, it's paint and you can always change it.....

While the red is, indeed, bold, I rather like it - the shade is not so saturated as to make it offensive. I love the contrast with the copper fixtures - makes it very rich looking. The size of the room lets it not be too overwhelming, as well. And I think it would be wonderful in a country environment with plenty of nature showing through adjacent windows.

I love the picture. I am scared that you would get sick of that real fast

In theory I love the idea and I love seeing something other than classic white and brown, could I do it though, no. It is pretty to look at and I'd gladly love to visit somebody with such style.

conflicted about the idea of a red kitchen! On a day where I am feeling fiesty and firey I would love this! Passion and cooking combined! On a day where I'm needing to feel calm, the red would make me anxious I feel like! Although, red is my favorite color!

This is tad too much red for me, but my friend has high gloss red upper cabinets with walnut stained wood bottom cabinets and light bamboo counter tops. This combo really works, bold modern yet natural.

I have an antique house in Massachusetts, built in 1727 and I have a RED AGA stove from England in my kitchen ! White cabinets, bleached pine floors, and black and white granite center island and counter tops. It is quite smashing !!!

...reminds me of my own kitchen ~ the perfect shade of red is dramatic yet inviting and full of warmth!

This kitchen is lovely to look at, but not sure I would want to be in a red kitchen day in & day out. I know the color red is supposed to stimulate the appetite & many dining rooms have been painted red, but I'm just not sure. I do, however, always like pops of red in any room.

Pretty to look at in the pictures but not sure I could live every day with those red cabinets. Love the tiles though!

I love it. For a client, we are doing an off white kitchen with the red Viking stove. Very fun.
