SOCIALLY CORRECT - FAMILY FRIENDLY KITCHEN WITH STYLE!
Nice kitchen...right?
This Chevy Chase, Maryland kitchen belongs to a former White House social secretary, Amy Zantzinger, and her family. She wanted to create a good looking space that was also extremely functional.
The centerpiece - is a counter height dark stained oak table for the family to eat meals around and for her kids to do home work.
Loving the serene grey cabinets, the concealed appliances, the cabinet pocket doors, the marble countertops and yes the wrap around french paned windows! Nice.
Classic but not old and fuddy duddy...fresh and inviting. That's the perfect recipe for a kitchen in my view.
What do you think of this eat-in kitchen? Too traditional? Just right? What elements might you incorporate into your dream kitchen?
Happy Monday!

I love this kitchen for its practicality, as well as it's clean lines. I do think that oriental runners along with roman shades on the windows would complete the room.
ReplyDeleteSo lovely! The mix of styles is wonderful. I'd love to cook and entertain in this kitchen.
ReplyDeleteDefinitely a beautiful kitchen - I love the double fridge - makes a lot of sense to me!

Gorgeous! I love the windows. I agree with Interiorspace that it just needs some pattern and/or splashes of color going on to make it perfect. I'd also like to see more industrial chairs to counter the very traditional everything else.
ReplyDeletesuch a bright and fresh space! the windows are to die for <3
ReplyDeleteLOVE this kitchen.....and I'm crazy about marble countertops..... I understand they stain very easily, however, and that's holding me back.
ReplyDeleteWarm blessings,

Just right for me! I love all of the windows!! I also adore a white kitchen. :) I'm ready to move right in. :)
ReplyDeleteLovely, light and lots of countertops. Looks like it fits in nicely with the traditional look of the home. Of course the appliances are to die for! When can I move in?
ReplyDeleteLovely, lots of light and countertops. Blends in well with the traditional style of the home. Of course the appliances are to die for! When can I move in?
ReplyDeleteI do think it looks good and the windows are fantastic.
ReplyDeleteI just don't think it would function that well to have the table in chairs right in the middle as you are trying to prepare a meal. The distance from the fridge to the sink looks a little strung out also.
I still favor a seating area near the kitchen or an island with seating on one side to keep people out of the working area of a kitchen.
Traditional, but I love it. It is so warm and welcoming. Mimi xx
ReplyDeletePerfect, absolutely perfect! Nicolex
ReplyDeletewow! those windows!! i love the idea of not having top cabinets but normally, i realize it's not the best use of space. *not in this place!!* it looks like she has storage galore. covet the kitchen...and covet the job, too!
ReplyDeleteBeautiful, especially the windows! Not a fan of the table, would prefer an island in wood! I like things to stay put and not feel I would run into a stray chair.
ReplyDeleteClassy and elegant while also warm and family-friendly. A fabulous kitchen. I wouldn't change a thing.
ReplyDeleteKitchen envy!! I love the idea of having the table in the middle of the kitchen. I can picture decorating cookies with the family and morning breakfast. The kitchen is where the heart is.
ReplyDeleteDo you know what the paint color is? Thanks
ReplyDeleteCarrera marble....always the right choice - and now so affordable...Love this post.
ReplyDeleteI love the color of the cabinets. Very pretty alternative to just plain white. Have to agree that if there was some pattern it would really feel lively. Maybe on the windows? But then it would block that beautiful open feeling. Really pretty, though. Wish the floors were a tad bit darker.
ReplyDeleteI love the built-in fridge and the cabinet pocket doors. I would love to open up doors to a little nook for my coffee maker and coffee mugs..so perfect!
ReplyDeleteI love this kitchen too. Really inspires me. The windows would make long cooking projects a joy. I just wonder what kind of modular refrigeration system that is. I'd love to know!
ReplyDeleteThis kind of classic, American kitchen never seems to date. Even in a very modern interior, I always think there's something slightly suspicious about a very trendy kitchen...
ReplyDeleteI would love to replace all of my top cabinets with windows.....but since I can't do that (as most of us cannot), I'm considering replacing all of the doors with glass doors. I think it will really open the look up like in this fabulous kitchen. Thanks for this great post!

the combination of the different wood tones is perfect.....the cabinets, flooring, table, and chairs all contribute varying rich tones to pull the kitchen together!
ReplyDeleteThis is my kind of kitchen! I've always loved a table in the middle of the kitchen--so old fashioned! Very family friendly!
ReplyDeleteI absolutely love this space!
ReplyDeleteThe wood floors add a lot of warmth. Beautiful! http://thekeytofinedesign.blogspot.com/

ReplyDeleteLight and airy at the same time being very warm and inviting. I like the dark island and floors for contrast. This kitchen seems timeless to me-beautiful!
ReplyDeletewonderful kitchen, maybe i would add a thing or two, not sure exactly what but to make it a bit more cozy, but all in all it's wonderful
