Nice kitchen...right?
This Chevy Chase, Maryland kitchen belongs to a former White House social secretary, Amy Zantzinger, and her family. She wanted to create a good looking space that was also extremely functional.
The centerpiece - is a counter height dark stained oak table for the family to eat meals around and for her kids to do home work.
Loving the serene grey cabinets, the concealed appliances, the cabinet pocket doors, the marble countertops and yes the wrap around french paned windows! Nice.
Classic but not old and fuddy duddy...fresh and inviting. That's the perfect recipe for a kitchen in my view.
What do you think of this eat-in kitchen? Too traditional? Just right? What elements might you incorporate into your dream kitchen?

I love this kitchen for its practicality, as well as it's clean lines. I do think that oriental runners along with roman shades on the windows would complete the room.

Gorgeous! I love the windows. I agree with Interiorspace that it just needs some pattern and/or splashes of color going on to make it perfect. I'd also like to see more industrial chairs to counter the very traditional everything else.

ReplyDeleteI just don't think it would function that well to have the table in chairs right in the middle as you are trying to prepare a meal. The distance from the fridge to the sink looks a little strung out also.
I still favor a seating area near the kitchen or an island with seating on one side to keep people out of the working area of a kitchen.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful, especially the windows! Not a fan of the table, would prefer an island in wood! I like things to stay put and not feel I would run into a stray chair.

ReplyDeleteI love the color of the cabinets. Very pretty alternative to just plain white. Have to agree that if there was some pattern it would really feel lively. Maybe on the windows? But then it would block that beautiful open feeling. Really pretty, though. Wish the floors were a tad bit darker.

ReplyDeleteI would love to replace all of my top cabinets with windows.....but since I can't do that (as most of us cannot), I'm considering replacing all of the doors with glass doors. I think it will really open the look up like in this fabulous kitchen. Thanks for this great post!

the combination of the different wood tones is perfect.....the cabinets, flooring, table, and chairs all contribute varying rich tones to pull the kitchen together!
