SEE THIS HOUSE: VACATION VIEWS!
This summer is going to be the second in a row for me with no real vacation! Oh my. So, I'll spend the whole summer lusting after interior design in vacation homes, weekend getaway cottages, and far off destination. Okay...I've got to do it somehow...I've got to squeeze in a proper vacation. I don't know how...but I'm going to try to take even a few days off.
A lake retreat...that would do just fine for me...this one in Montauk on Long Island would work for a bit of rest and relaxation.
The decor in this vacation home is very fresh, white, clean modern. Very neutral I do concede. Could use a a bit of warming up. I might add some of my COCOCOZY throws and pillows into the mix to add a bit of texture here and there. I might also add a few colorfully painted furniture pieces to the space too, a bit of fab modern art to the walls (maybe a large turquoise linear piece from one of my favorite artists Brian Wills) and some soft window coverings with subtle but distinct prints. I would keep the color palette of many of the textiles in the blue white family. Otherwise, I adore the high ceilings, the reclaimed wood on the walls in the entry and the white painted wood floors. The yard and pool are all lustworthy too btw.
Do you like this lake side retreat? What would you add to the decor to make it work for you? Where are you going on vacation this summer and what do you like design wise about where you are going?
Happy Tuesday!

Oh. Dream home. FOUND. Gorgeous!
I was googling and pintresting to try and find this house and I could not for the life of me remember where I had seen it or whos work it was.... do you have anymore info on this? I would reaaaally love ya for it. The exterior is ideal.
It's so lovely but a bit stark. I would add a coat/hat rack, some art on the wall (vs. just on the floor) and just a teeny amount of clutter for that cozy lived-in feel.
I'd go insane in a place this stark and colorless. For Godssake, get some color in there! Turquoise, lime, citron---something. Vacations are terrific and all that but living as I do in West Hollywood, there's a LOT to explore and enjoy. Now, a trip to Italy would be lovely, but until I can afford to do it up the way I want to? LA suits me just fine!
I burst out laughing when I read your comment "This summer is going to be the second in a row for me with no real vacation!". I haven't had a "real" vacation (i.e. more than 3 days off in a row) since 1979. I'm sure you'll somehow manage to survive!
Squeak...thank you for the much needed perspective! Realize now how it sounds to be complaining about not going away for a few years. I think I will survive too. :-) Your comment will help me remember not to whine about things that are really not that bad! Truly appreciate it.

Love this house, it has an ease to it. I like the fact it is a blank canvas and when you get bored you can easily swap things out. Your prints would look lovely in there!
Here's to hoping you get a vacation or even a mini one
This is a super find! I see a few comments saying this place is stark, but I personally love the minimalism. It feels very inviting to me.
I love the floors... I want to walk barefoot through that house! Besides, it looks so clean!!!!
I'm in love!
I would just add color in the form of some minimalist fresh flower arrangements. It's very Zen...just the thing for a vacation retreat.
A beautiful home that lets the outside be the star and not compete with it! The kitchen was very sleek - I loved it - especially the open shelves!
