THIS OR THAT: CLASSIC VS. CONTEMPORARY LIVING ROOM!

Happy Halloween!  No scary stuff this Halloween on COCOCOZY.  Just another THIS OR THAT!

Two living rooms...reversed.

One classic cottage with more dark blue tones...the  other a contemporary look with white being predominant.

Layouts are similar but rooms look very different.  It is like they are the reverse of each other.

In the classic room, a navy sofa with contrast white piping is surrounded by wicker and rattan side chairs and side tables.  Two matching prints decorate the wall between the natural blind covered windows and a jute rug covers the floor.  This room feels cottage like and beachy to me.

In the contemporary room below, all of the accents have a little sparkle to them...instead of two framed prints,  a sunburst mirror is in between the matching windows. A shiny white lacquer coffee table, mirrored side tables, and a white sofa all make for a modern space.  The Moroccan inspired touches in the room like the white leather pouf and the trellis rug add some international flavor to the space.

Hmmm...which one do you prefer?

I think if I had to take one room as is, it would be the contemporary one.  If I could make some changes, I think there elements in both rooms that really work.  What do you think?  THIS OR THAT?  Which living room do you prefer?

Happy Monday!

WEEKEND PHOTO!

All photos in this post by Coco of COCOCOZY

Happy Halloween eve!

Got these beautiful flowers delivered yesterday from best of friend AM and her nice husband JE.  Wasn't feeling too well so I got some "get well soon" flowers from them.  My mom was very nice too...she was here making sure I was okay.

Well today I woke...feeling much much better.  It is another gorgeous fall day here...and the views from my tiny little cottage in the Hollywood Hills is quite nice.

The view of these lovely flowers is nice too!

How are you spending your Halloween eve?  I'll spend mine taking it a bit easy.  I know best of friend AM is throwing a huge party for her son's 4th bday in NYC...80 people she is having over...and her husband JE, a 6'2" man, is dressing as the Green Lantern (she sent a picture of him in the costume...it is quite hilarious...and cute)...gotta love Halloween. LOL!

Thank you AM and JE for the lovely flowers...they brightened my day!

Happy Sunday!

FASHION FORWARD: GREEN, GREY & BLACK!

Les Copains Fall 2011 Ready to Wear (above)

Need to do a little fall shopping. This color combo inspires me. I think I might look okay in a little jewel tone green, some wonderful rich grey and a pop of black. Hmmm...add to the to-do list...shop for fall... or errr not to seem too frivolous...I mean...to-do: stimulate the economy for fall with some green and grey purchases! :-)

I like green and gray in the home too! Warm, rich, inviting...

What do you think? Would you rather use this color combination in home decor or when styling a look from your closet?

Happy Friday!

LAVENDER & LINEN - ROMANTIC FALL TABLE DECOR!

All photos in this post by Coco of COCOCOZY

So...had a wonderful lunch yesterday with Hilde Leiaghat, the oh so chic owner of Pom Pom Interiors home furnishings empire, and her oh so nice son and business partner Sam Leiaghat.  Hilde and her husband Reza own three chic furniture stores in Los Angeles.  They also design and produce an elegant collection of linens for the home, bedroom and table that is sold in stores across the country.

I popped away from work yesterday for just a bit (from my day job) to run over to Beverly Hills to have lunch with Hilde and Sam.  I was so happy to see them again and equally excited to see the Pom Pom Interiors store in Beverly Hills.

I LOVE Pom Pom.  I have been a Pom Pom Interiors devotee for a long time.  Over the years, I have bought pillows, lamps, and accessories at Pom Pom at their La Brea Blvd. location...have also spent many hours in the stores musing over beautiful things.  The shops are the mecca for posh designers and the linens collection is the darling of mega celebrities like J. Lo (Jennifer Lopez) !  (An aside...I want a name like P. Diddy or J. Lo or Young MC...I'm going to call myself C. Co from now on...what do you think...C. Co...Coco is already my nickname...can I further nickname a nickname?  Is that possible?  The blogger formerly known as Coco is now called C. Co!  Genius or confusing? I know the answer here so just indulge my musings...thank you very much...LOL!).

Anyhooooo....so, while I claim to be a Pom Pom devotee (and was long before meeting Hilde and Sam a year ago),  I somehow got so busy these last months that I forgot to stalk one of their newest stores...the Beverly Hills Pom Pom on Canon!  Yesterday I got my chance.  Woot woot!  Quite fabulous.  I started talking to myself the minute I walked into the store...murmuring "Gorgeous...oh this is beautiful...oh and it smells so good."  I think Hilde, Sam and Jamie (who works in the store) all thought I was a little kooky when they saw me talking to myself...but I couldn't help it.  I couldn't.  Sorry. :-)  I'll be doing a full SHOP WATCH on the store in a bit...

But today...wanted to share images of a table setting in the store that caught my eye.  Love the idea of using non-traditional colors for fall decorating and entertaining. Most people are conditioned to think burnt oranges, auburns and greens for fall colors. Maybe it is time to break out some new fall colors?  In the case of this dining table, the natural linens and the lovely purple and lavender accents make for a wonderfully festive and romantic fall table!  Love the addition of the vintage silverware and the small topiaries too.

Audrey Placemats - $60 (set of 4 white cotton placments with ruffle)(above)
Oliver Napkins - $80 (set of 4 linen napkins. Color: Bark)(above)

Purple Fleur Glass - $8 each (above)

Lovely I think.  What do you think of this fall table setting?  What colors might you add in to make this work in your home?

Thank you Hilde and Sam for a wonderful lunch and for inviting me over to the amazing store!

Happy Thursday!

P.S. Have a bit of problem.  Is it weird that I am totally into that t.v. show the X Factor?  So, I don't have too much time for television these days.  I somehow though am hooked on a show about people trying to sing and win $5million dollars and there are judges or something.  Anyhooo...not doing a good job of describing it...but I am hooked.  I think I am going to get to watch a live taping of the show next week.  Woohooooo!  I talk about the X Factor so much that someone at work said I needed to get a life...grrr... I know...I sound like I am 10 years old and without a life...hmmmm...need to mature up and turn off the t.v. maybe...hee hee!  Help...any solutions for this X Factor addiction? Help.  Another one of my non-dilemma dilemmas...

P.P.S.  Fun dinner last night with AZ and some friends. Tired this morning.  Running all day then have a store opening party this evening.

SHADES OF PRECIOUS GRAY!

ABC Carpet & Home - Cobble Hill Hudson Sofa - $1995 (Grey velvet sofa. Exposed legs) (above)

Two very precious grey furniture pieces that caught my eye...oh and both have a little nailhead trim to spice things up.  I could use a nice gray sofa...hmmm...food for thought...and not to mention a cute tufted bench for the living room!  Hmmm...

P.S. Notice how I can't decide how to spell grey.  I like spelling it with an "e".  I know, we here in America spell it with an "a".  I'm going to dare to be different. Grey, grey, grey...all the wey (wey misspelled with an "e" intentionally...seeing if I can start a trend...LOL)!

SEE THIS HOUSE: A $32 MILLION SAN FRANCISCO MANSION!

Happy Monday!

A mansion in San Francisco...who wouldn't want this neo classical revival home right in the heart of San Francisco...with views of the bay and the Golden Gate bridge? If you don't want it, I'll take it!

Being offered for $32 million dollars by McGuire Real Estate, the house is in the Gold Coast of the tony Pacific Heights area of town.

The mansion was built in 1910 but has clearly been upgraded with all modern amenities.  Just a meager 16,000 square feet houses 7 bedrooms, 11 baths, several dining rooms, 2 kitchens, 2 family rooms, 2 offices, a basketball court, roof level deck and more!

For some reason, even though the house is extremely large it doesn't feel too pretentious in its decor.  Not too ornate, not too over done, not too ostentatious...well played.

Here are just a few images of this mansion...

To see even more of this house...I've only shown you about 1/5th of it...you can go to the official website at 2701 Broadway Street.

What do you think of this multi million dollar listing?  Take or leave?  If you would take it, anything you might re-do?  If you are leaving it, do tell why?

Happy Monday!

WEEKEND PHOTO!

Yippeee. It is Saturday.  So much to do...need to hop to it.  Have to admit.  Have been a little lazy this morning.  Enjoying the morning slowly.  A morning spent sleeping in...twiddling around...back and forth...a little yoga...admiring the view from little tiny cottage in the Hollywood Hills...doing nothing really...as my mom would say, "barbecuing water".  Oh, I was waiting for the guys to come fix the gutters on my house.  They haven't showed up.  Oh well.  More time to twiddle then.  At noon...doing nothing ends...and I have to hit the road and be productive....but what a nice gorgeous fall Saturday morning it has been.

Oh, love this idea by the way...if you are organized enough...a bedroom dressing room with a rack of clothing hanging from the ceiling on a wall near the bed.  Love the little dressing table too with the metal frame mirror...would be perfect for my lazy morning...I could spend some time fiddling and twiddling with makeup and hair...oh, I need this little dressing table!

What are you doing this weekend?  Any time to do absolutely nothing?  Where is your favorite place in your house to do nothing?

Happy Saturday!

P.S.  Just got a nice email from fellow blogger and stationery entrepreneur, Kalyn Johnson of Effie's Paper.  I guess she is twiddling around this morning doing a bit of shopping.  Kalyn just sent me a photo of a COCOCOZY pillow she saw in fine furnishings store Gracious Home in New York this morning!   Woot woot!   You know the saying from the song, "If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere..."!!!  New York look out COCOCOZY textiles are in the house!!

SEE THIS HOUSE: WEEKEND COUNTRY CHIC!

I really like this Hudson Valley farmhouse designed by Sisse Jonassen of SJ Interior Design and photographed so wonderfully by Emily Gilbert.

I need a weekend house...some place to get away during the fall and winter...to cozy up and do weekend things. Instead, I am stuck in my tiny tiny tiny cottage in the Hollywood Hills this weekend dealing with plumbing problems and sliding hillside issues...oy va voy...oh did I mention the fence that is in desperate need of repair?

I need a weekend getaway place...a place with no errands, no to do lists, just me, friends, several magazines and a good book (yes I said a book), with the only thing on the list is planning fun lunches and dinners with friends/family...oh my dog Mr. Boo could come too...

What do you think of this farmhouse? I really like the exposed beams and love the mix of traditional and modern in the decor. Nicely done.

Where do you go to get away on the weekends?

Happy Friday!

TILE FILE: PORTUGUESE TILES AS WALL DECOR!

This fireplace covered in Portuguese antique tiles is so fantastic. It is in a Venice Beach home featured in interior designer Alexandra Angle's portfolio. Lots of Swedish homes have tiled fireplaces. This is reminiscent of that look except the house is in California and the tiles are from Portugal!  Notice how the tiles replace the need for art on the walls in this space. Why not take a risk and feature a wall or a fireplace covered with graphic patterned tile soothing blues and greens? If you do decide to try, send me a photo please!

Euromkii - Portuguese hand made ceramic tiles - $10.45 per tile (5.5"x5.5" square handmade filter clay tiles. Minimum of 50 tile order)(above)

Would you ever tile a wall or a fireplace from floor to ceiling? If so, does this look appeal to you or what other kinds of tiles might you use?

Happy Thursday!

P.S. Got an email from Catherine Martin today...she is the very posh owner of the equally chic C. Martin Collection home furnishings mecca in Chattanooga, Tennessee. Catherine was emailing her clients about her new offerings at her store. And guess who was included?!? I met Catherine in Atlanta this summer when she stopped by my display at my fabulous showroom, Christian Mosso Associates (CMA). So, Gary W., the star Tennessee sales rep for CMA, brought Catherine on by my area of the showroom in July and I just happened to be there to say hi.  It seemed like seconds after we met, Catherine immediately decided to become a stocking dealer of COCOCOZY textiles!  It was very exciting helping her with her order. We shipped Catherine her huge order of COCOCOZY pillows and throws a few weeks back and now she has them beautifully displayed in her gorgeous store. If you are in Tennessee please stop by C. Martin Collection and take a look at COCOCOZY and so much more in her store...note to self, must make it to TN to do a little shopping!!

COCOCOZY linen pillows and cotton knit reversible throws on display in a living room vignette at C. Martin Collection in Chattanooga.  Also, see all of the COCOCOZY Plaid Solid pillows on the shelf behind the vignette!. (above)

P.P.S.  Okay...enough about me and COCOCOZY Textiles.  I went to dinner last night at Jar with friend and jewelry store owner Julie S. of Persimmon.  I spent the whole evening coveting a gorgeous ring she was wearing.  Need to learn how to covet things more discreetly...I don't think practically fainting over a rings is cool or chic. LOL?  Hmmm...

P.P.P.S.  Happy Thursday!

THIS OR THAT: ICY ROOMS!

Two rooms...same color scheme...icy.  Pale blues, greys, pale greens and whites.  Which of these two rooms do you prefer?

The first room above is quite glam with the large lucite table (doing a post on lucite coffee tables coming up so stay tuned), flokati rug, the crystal table lamps.

The second room below is more functional it seems...a room that a family could really use on a day to day basis...simple, practical, easy to understand decor.

Which of these two icy colored rooms is your fave?  I'm leaning towards the glam I think!

Happy Wednesday!

P.S.  Some good news New Yorkers...COCOCOZY Textiles are now in Gracious Home in both the Upper East Side and Upper West Side stores!  COCOCOZY is in Manhattan!!  Yipppeee!!!   I'm so excited that my collection is in one of the most prestigious home furnishings stores in the country.  Gracious Home ordered a fabulous selection of pillows and throws for fall.  So please please please if you live in New York or are just visiting go by Gracious Home to take a look if you have a moment! I'm trying to get best of friend AM to swing by to take photos (I will not hold my breath though)...so if any of you happen to pop by Gracious Home and see COCOCOZY please snap a photo and email me at cococozy@cococozy.com.

WELL RED!

I love this library in a Greenwich, CT home.   Light wood paneling, neutral earth tone furniture to match and then a shock of red  in the upholstered armchairs and accent pillows.

I would love to curl up in this room with a nice book or a good magazine.  Perfect.

Happy Monday!

BOOK FIRST LOOK - DESIGNER KATIE RIDDER'S COLORFUL ROOMS!

It seems to be interior designer Katie Ridder's week here on COCOCOZY. I started the week with a Katie Ridder home and now I'm ending the week with images from a new book due out November 1st all about Katie's work.

After I posted on Monday about an interesting home from Katie's online portfolio, I got an email about the book.  It is being published by Vendome Press and is called Katie Ridder Rooms written by Heather Smith McIsaac and photographs by Eric Piasecki. I have not received my advance copy yet (it is in the mail according to nice Meghan over at Vendome...wooohooo) but I have been given an exclusive first look at what is inside.

Can I say awesome? Katie is known for using texture, color and non-traditional "curious" combinations to create stunning memorable spaces.  Lot's of interesting details in a Katie Ridder designed room.

Here's just a little sneak peek...loads of inspiration....can't wait to have this for my coffee table!

A traditional clawfoot tub pops against a wall of peacock blue floor to ceiling subway tiles. (above)

Clever use of chartreuse throughout the room including on the sofa piping, the Moroccan pouf stitching and the trim on the windows. (above)

Aqua mosaic tiles form a counter to ceiling backsplash in an otherwise white kitchen. (above)

I like these rooms.  My favorite in this batch is the home office with the green trimmed windows!  Do you like any of these rooms?  Which space might work in your home?

Thank you Meghan over at Vendome for giving me a first look at some of the images from the book just for COCOCOZY.  Readers, I have a few more of these rooms that have been shared just with me...and I'll bring those to you too very soon!

Happy happy Friday!

GUEST POST: L.A. INTERIOR DESIGNER ALISON BLUMENFELD ON THE LATEST DESIGN TREND!

So as I mentioned the other day...went to a lovely dinner at the home of chic interior designer Alison Blumenfeld of Blumenfeld Interiors.  I've known Alison for a few years now and absolutely love her sense of style.

As most of you know...I don't really have guest posts here on the blog...I've made the exception on several occasions when Alison says she has post in mind.

Without further ado, here's today's guest post from Alison Blumenfeld:

START OF GUEST POST BY ALISON BLUMENFELD

WOVEN GOODNESS - THE LATEST DESIGN TREND

Trends build. I remember a couple years ago seeing a rope covered console and chairs in the book Parisian Interiors, and months later a snippet in a magazine showing a rope covered daybed and table, and maybe a year later seeing a collection of rope tables, chairs, and consoles at Holly Hunt. The Holly Hunt collection, this kitchen above and below, and the daybed were all created by Christian Astuguevieille, a French designer who, among other things, worked for Comme Des Garcons and Nina Ricci before embarking on this collection.

A rope mirror adds texture and visual interest to this living room's neutral palette. (above)

Of course now obsessed with Christian Astuguevieille, I began to see woven delights everywhere...caning, wicker, rattan. It was there all along. I love the depth it adds to a room. It can make a modern room feel less sterile, a formal room more approachable, and a traditional room more interesting. I love taking it out of the garden and into the home, juxtaposed with upholstered pieces, beautiful casework, art, and rugs. In an age where interiors have felt very slick, a bit of handy work feels very welcome.

Two rope arm chairs work in even a more polished formal setting. (above)

I have wanted to write about rope and wicker for awhile, but I am so glad I waiting because at last this trend is just starting to emerge in the affordable market. I am hopeful that the trend continues, but in the meantime here are some wonderful pieces currently at market.

This amazing rope chandelier by Jamie Young...

This chic console table from Mecox Gardens...

This wonderful vintage woven chair on 1st Dibs...

Incredible porcelain vases also on 1st Dibs...

A rustic barstool from Anthropologie...

So, if this trend continues how will you embrace it?

END OF GUEST POST BY ALISON BLUMENFELD
***

Thank you Alison for this amazing guest post!  I like this woven trend.  I wouldn't mind some cute coffee table accessories in the form of rope trays or boxes to add to my space!

Happy Thursday!

P.S.  I went to a fab dinner last night at Mr. Chow with very nice JG, AG, KG and LG who are all visiting from out of town.  Sisters KG and LG are in college but are already entrepreneurs having started a fantastic bracelet business called Stoney Clover. Stars like Justin Bieber, Taylor Swift, Reese Witherspoon, Anna Lynne McCord, the guy who is the teacher on Glee and many more have worn the Stoney Clover bracelets. The best part is that 25% of the company's sales goes to charity.  Admire these gals so much!  So nice seeing you all last night!  Thank you for dinner! xo
