| "Splashed Swirl" by Maria Koundourou (Digital art printed on canvas. 36"x36") (above) |
Haven't done a giveaway in awhile...so today I am so happy to bring you the latest!
Up and coming New York based artist and interior designer Maria Koundourou wrote me a few months ago asking me to look at her portfolio. Maria also generously offered one of her original pieces of art for a COCOCOZY GIVEAWAY. So I went to Maria's portfolio back then to check it out. While browsing through the site and her work, I found this wonderful piece of digital art she created. I immediately emailed her back. It took me months though to find the time to sit down and concentrate to do this giveaway, but finally we set a date. So here we are! Woot woot!
Maria calls this piece "Splashed Swirl". It is 36"x"36" digital print on canvas.
Maria wrote me about her inspiration for this piece: "The Splashed Swirl was created for my love of black and white and the harsh contrast it creates. I love the crisp, clean, modern and artistic feel. Inspiration is everywhere as long as you are paying attention to see it. Just by walking through the streets of New York you can find so many things to inspire you."
I like this piece because there is something so compelling, immensely energetic and quietly bold about it.
Now, I am so thrilled to give one of you readers the chance to win a print of this original work of digital art by Maria Koundourou.
Here's how to enter today's giveaway:
1. Leave a comment here on the blog below...telling me where you may put this piece of art in your home
2. Then "like" Maria Koundourou's Facebook page
3. That's it!
Enter by midnight Pacific Standard Time, Saturday January 12th...and I'll announce a winner on Monday!
Wishing you lots of luck. Thank you Maria for sharing your work.
Happy Friday!

So beautiful! I would probably put it somewhere in my living room where I currently have a lot of brown. This would certainly pop!
ReplyDeleteI love the motion- I think it would have to go in my son's room who is built for speed!
ReplyDeleteJust moved into a new home and this would make a perfect addition to our family room!
ReplyDeleteWow - love the emotion and life in that art. It would brighten up my office, where I work every day!
ReplyDeleteThe movement and stark contrast in this piece is brilliant! I would love to have it in the "creative" space in the new home we are about to purchase. {I will finally have a space to design, sew, and create all to myself!} It would be so inspiring!
ReplyDeleteLove this print! I would put this right over my sofa in my living room. Would make such a difference in this room and would be such fun to look at every time I walk into the room! Excited to see more of her work!
ReplyDeleteWhat a fun piece! I would put this in our family room. Would definitely fit the mood of our home.
ReplyDeleteI am also a huge fan of the graphoc nature that black and white creates...it would look perfect over my fireplace in the living room. Its currently a bare space as I have been trying to find a piece that will work there...and this would be wonderful!

ReplyDeleteMy new house is a late 70s contemporary home and I know this piece would look great on my living room wall under a vaulted ceiling.
ReplyDeleteI just recently moved to another state away from my family and friends and looking at this piece reminds me why I had to. The beauty in the movement of the piece reminds me that although I miss them, there is something bigger and greater for me out there.
This would be perfect in my entryway! What a great way to enter the house, than with this piece of art work - gorg!
ReplyDeleteI just redid my living room and I have NO art on the walls, this would be a beautiful start to the decor
ReplyDeleteI love it, too! I'd hang it in our bedroom along with another black and white canvas piece we have, to complement the grey and yellow color scheme we have in the Master. I REALLY want it! :)

So awesome. Looking forward to checking out her site. I finally re-worked my bedroom and have a black modern poster bed....this piece will work above it as the focal point. Thanks for sharing....she's very talented...
ReplyDeleteSimplistic beauty!
ReplyDeleteI love that if you look closely it looks like a bird in flight. It would be at home and a constant ode to inspiration in my new home office. This year I am making a commitment to myself to really push towards my dreams and goals to become an independent design studio owner. Just keep on swimming...or flying.
My hubby and I are remodeling our dining room. This would definitely make this room.
ReplyDeleteExcellent painting, which shows an endless motion. I will place it on the wall just opposite side of my couch.
ReplyDeleteI would put this fabulous work of art in my office! It would look great along side a few chic black and white photos!
ReplyDeleteI am a hugh lover of black and white. Ten years ago I did my room with Black and White Toile. Time to bring it back to a cleaner more sophisticated look. Since I have a white matesse bedspread, black and white accessories this will go between my 4 poster bed and live prominately as a focal point.
ReplyDeleteon my stairway wall!
ReplyDeleteLove it. I'm trying to modernize my artwork a bit- bring the house into the 21st Century. Would be fab in my living room or above my stairs in the entry.
ReplyDeleteI would love to put this in my living room mantle! It's perfect!

I would put this on the wall above my desk. right now i am only looking at clean, cornflower-blue wall and i have actually been searching the perfect clean, yet lively and inspiring piece to look at while i do all my homework (i am a student and spend almost all my time sitting on my desk) for quite a while now. i think maria's artwork would look absolutely stunning there. i´d really love to win :).
ReplyDeleteI would put this gorgeous piece in my dining room, to add that special "POW" and really energize the space. It's dynamic - and would be an excellent conversation piece. I love the movement!

ReplyDeleteHi Coco,
ReplyDeleteWhile redoing our bedroom right now, I know my bf and I would love this piece of Art above our bed. We would balance this abstract piece with some wonderful white linens on the bed.
*double checked and it would fit too :)
Beautiful... love the black and white combo.. I will put this in our family room in our new home ...
ReplyDeleteI have a perfect space for the piece, and have I fact been looking for something bold and modern that could go on a very tall wall in the third floor landing. We have a custom built black bookcase wo an open back, and it's filled with all sorts of our non- fiction library and treasures from our travels. It would be a striking accent there. Love it!
ReplyDeleteThis would be the first thing you see when entering my home. Beautiful and perfect!
ReplyDeleteStunning piece! Our living room is black, grey and cream, so this piece would just sit beautifully! X

I WOULD USE THE "SPLASHED SWIRL" IN MY LIVING ROOM OVER MY NEW "PEEKABOO" CONSOLE FROM CB2 I RECEIVED FOR MY BIRTHDAY. I LOVE IT!
ReplyDeleteWow such an incredibly provocative piece! I can definitely see why it stopped you dead in your tracks! Love the "Rorschach-esque" qualities of the inky swirl...one part Hitchcockian thriller, one part Romantic dramedy...totally into this dichotomy! Perfect to place right above my workstation where I crave constant stimulation the most!!
ReplyDeleteLiked her FB and *crossing my fingers* for this beauty!
Awesome giveaway!

ReplyDeleteI would love to have this in my dining room! Great conversation piece❤what a great giveaway...thanks Coco!!
ReplyDeleteThis piece is so profound and it demands a lot of elaboration, so I will put it in my kitchen, where a lot of splashing and elaboration takes place everyday.
ReplyDeleteI love this piece! It could go anywhere in my contemporary Florida home. Thinking dining room would work best, thanks for posting!!! I also "liked" MK's page. All the best to you--keep up the great work!

Just purchased my new home and this would be perfect for the entry to my living space...it would hang over a black console cabinet that has glass inserts in the doors which have been painted with a gold-ish mercury paint kind of look. This would be stunning.
ReplyDeleteThis striking print is just what is needed in the hallway going into my office. The hallway is rather dreary now but a fresh coaat of spring green paint and a conversation-starting piece such as this would brighten anyone's perspective coming into my office. A long slender table of dark wood with an arrangement of bright tulips or pink orchids with a three table-top books to browse would finish off the area.
ReplyDeleteThis is SOO Stunning! I would put it in our Living Room
